Paintball For Beginners

By: Matt Chang

Paintball is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and every day thousands of new players join this exciting sport. Many might think it is an extreme sport, and while that is partly true, most extreme sports are individual based, but this sport is very much team based. The sport is hard core, but to win, you really need to work with people.

Paintballs are the brainchild of the Nelson Paint Company. It indeed was an invention that arose from the need to mark trees in the forests. Besides, these were also used for marking cows by cattlemen. Later, when a couple of friends used these paintballs as a survival game, it indeed turned to be the sport that we know as paintball today.

It is not uncommon to see paintball as a corporate team building event. If this is your first time getting behind the sights of a paint ball gun, here are a few things you should take to heart in order to have a good game, and a fun time.

For beginners, the most important thing to remember is to protect yourself. Many injuries with paintball have occurred when new people get in the game, and they are not properly geared. The very first rule to be strictly observed is to wear the paintball helmet
religiously, which is called the protective goggle system. This is because, though according to the safety rules, the velocity of the balls should not be any greater than 300 feet every second, there is never too much safety.

Make sure you wear long sleeves and all your skin is covered. If you get hit with a paintball, it stings. The better covered you are, and the thicker your clothing, the better you will be insulated. Wear gloves and sturdy athletic shoes or Army style boots.

Besides this, the barrel stopping device is a must use. This ensures that even if the gun is accidentally fired, the stopping device keep paintbalsl from getting fired.

The way the game works is simple. Players get eliminated when the paintball fired by the opponent break due to an impact and leave a mark of paint on them. A player can also ask for the opponent to surrender when he is within ten to fifteen feet distance before the player fires the paintball at him.

To be a successful player you need to follow some further simple rules. Well, of course you need the right gear. Without a high quality gear it's hard to win. But, I think knowledge and skills are even more important. It does not make sense to spend a fortune on gear, if you don't know how hide effectively; playing in a team and so on.

Approach the game with a sense of strategy, and you and your team can do well. Many players just go out and shoot what ever they see. A game plan is critical to your success.

Take these few tips to heart, get good protective gear, have a plan, and have fun!
