Planning Your Own Honeymoon?

By: Sebastian Marders

When going through the process of planning and deciding where and what you wish to do on your honeymoon, it should be the most enjoyable, playful part of the whole wedding experience. While a honeymoon may seem like any other vacation, it's really the first real vacation you will go on with your new spouse. And really, deep down, it is fairly simple if you don't have unrealistic expectations with your budget.

When planning on your Honeymoon, these are the things you should keep in mind:

When are you going?
The time of year is something that can affect your honeymoon like most vacations. Try to find out what the weather may be like, what other tourists will be there and how much it will cost. Because all of these factors will vary through the course of the year. And this will help you decide what will be best for you within your budget.

Where you are going and how to travel there?
While some might say you must visit an exotic locale, you should go somewhere you want to go. If you are adventurous and love to travel to far away destinations even if you must spend over 20 hours getting there, then do so, but don't force yourself if you prefer simple pleasures in domestic locations.

What is there at the Honeymoon Location?
Perhaps you want to go scuba diving, lay on the beach lazing around under the sun, stay in bed with room service or all of the above plus other activities. Make sure you check and research what amenities the Hotel or Resort has in and around it before booking one.

What will the Hotel Room be like?
Make sure you choose a room that you will be pleased with. Most likely you will spend quite a bit of time in there and the comfort, luxury, space, view, and location will matter. Ask if there are any large parties that will take place near your room, find out what direction you will be facing; simply hoping for a beach view only to get a wall could ruin your experience.

How much will it cost?
Check to see if they have any packages or discounts at the Hotel or Resort. Look for Honeymoon packages that will have extra amenities, such as sparkling wine, massages, floral decorations, free extended stays and room upgrades for free. Also choosing a slow time of the year for the Resort may yield more offers.

Is my Honeymoon Confirmed?
Lastly and most importantly, make sure you speak to someone specific at the Resort or Hotel that can confirm all your information for your honeymoon. And if you arrive and experience any little problems, simply tell them you are on your honeymoon and most places will do their best to accommodate and please you.
